Easterfest

Over this Easter I went up to Easterfest (Formerly Australian Gospel Music Festival), it was a great time away celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. On the Sunday morning I rose early (around 4am) with the rest of the Young Adults and made my way to picnic point, to the lookout. As we stood together cold and shivering I read the resurrection story from the Gospel of Mark. After reading it out we prayed together, then watched the sunrise, it was one of the most beautiful things I have seen.

As I was sitting there watching this sunrise I reflected with some of the young adults with me this very story. Mary was told to go the the 11 disciples and Peter and tell them what they had seen and heard. Peter was wasn't feeling like a disciple anymore, as he had denied Jesus three times.

The big thing that I was reflecting on was that it was on Peter that Jesus was going to build the church. Peter not Paul but Peter, here is a guy that was an action man. Never stopped before speaking or acting. He was a flawed guy, he was a fisherman not an intellectual. It was on this man that the church was built.

As we look at our lives and reflect, we may look and say that we are not the most qualified for the job at hand, but God uses flawed human beings like you and me to do his work. We get to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

May you realize this year that God can and will use you in his work, that he loves you just the way you are, but loves you way too much to leave you that way.
